2) Turn the ignition switch to the locked position.
3) Raise the vehicle.
12. Separate the steering column coupling from the steering gear.
13. Remove the steering gear retaining nuts.
Caution: Hold the tops of the steering gear to crossmember stud bolts to avoid damaging the steering Dear fluid transfer tubes
14. Remove the mounting stud, nut, washer and stop assemblies.
15. Remove the steering gear. Clean the mounting surfaces.
Installation Note
1. Install in reverse order of removal.
1) Using SST D9OP-3517-A or equivalent, install new seals on the power steering return hose and power steering pressure hose.
2) Refer to STEERING GEAR MOUNTING STRUCTURAL VIEW for correct hardware orientation. The dished side of the washer faces
downward.
3) Install a new intermediate shaft pinch bolt.
2. Fill, purge, leak check, and top off the power steering system.
3. Check and if necessary, adjust the wheel alignment.
