HLA REMOVAL / INSTALLATION

For a valve train noise concern, inspect the valve-to-rocker arm clearance and rocker arms and push rods for wear.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Drain the engine cooling system.
3. Remove the lower intake manifold.

4. Remove the tappet guide plate retainer.

5. Remove the valve tappet guide plates.

6. Remove the valve tappets.
7. Install in the reverse order of removal.

Tightening torque 10 - 14 Nm (1.02 - 1.43 kgf.m, 89 - 123 inch lbs.)

HLA Installation Note

1. Lubricate the valve tappets and the valve tappet bores with engine oil prior to installation.
2. Install the valve tappets.
