DELAYED REVERSE ENGAGEMENT
APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINs
2001 B3000 with automatic transmission produced between 8/8/2000 to 6/18/2001.
DESCRIPTION
Some vehicles may exhibit a delayed reverse engagement of the automatic transmission. This may be caused by the calibration of the Powertrain Control
Module (PCM)
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1.
Verify customer concern.
2.
Verify "Catch Word" on Tear Tag and compare to chart shown.

If "Catch Word" is listed, go to step 3.

If "Catch Word" is not listed, continue diagnosis according to Workshop Manual (section 05-01 TROUBLESHOOTING).
NOTE:
Catch Word is printed on the Tear Tag, located on the firewall adjacent to the PCM.
3.
Reprogram PCM to latest level (shown above) using the WDS.
NOTE:
Do not replace the PCM for this concern. Reprogram the PCM only.
4.
Complete an Authorized Modification Label.
a.
Be sure to enter the date, new calibration number, dealer number, and summary of modifications performed.
b.
Clean the area adjacent to the Vehicle Emission Control Information Label and install the label.
5.
Verify repair.
