Wheel Speed Sensor: Service and Repair
Rear Axle
REMOVAL / INSTALLATION
1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Remove the rear axle speed sensor.
1) Disconnect the rear axle speed sensor electrical connector.
2) Remove the bolt.
3) Remove the rear axle speed sensor.
CAUTION:

Before removing the rear axle speed sensor, clean any dirt around the sensor to prevent the dirt from contaminating the rear axle fluid.

Do not get dirt in the rear axle housing.
3. Clean and inspect the rear axle speed sensor.
1) Clean the axle mounting surface.
2) Inspect and clean the magnetized rear axle speed sensor pole piece.
3) Inspect the rear axle speed sensor for damage; replace if necessary.
4) Lightly lubricate the rear axle speed sensor O-ring with motor oil.
4. Install the rear axle speed sensor.
CAUTION: Do not apply force to the plastic rear axle speed sensor electrical connector. The rear axle speed sensor should slide into the
mounting opening.
1) Position the rear axle speed sensor and install the bolt.
2) Connect the rear axle speed sensor electrical connector.
