Vacuum Brake Booster: Service and Repair

REMOVAL / INSTALLATION 

1. Remove the brake master cylinder.

2. Compress the clamp and disconnect the vacuum hose.

3. Disconnect the brake pedal to power brake booster push rod as shown in image.

(1).Remove the self-locking pin.
(2).Remove the Brake Pedal Position (BPP) switch and the brake booster push rod from the brake pedal pin.
(3).Remove the brake booster push rod bushing.

4. Remove the bulkhead sound insulator.

NOTE:  Support the power brake booster.

5. Remove the power brake booster.

(1).Remove the nuts.
(2).Remove Dower brake unit.

6. Install in reverse order of removal.

NOTE:  It may be necessary to adjust push rod length. Refer to Master Cylinder, Brakes / Master Cylinder Push Rod / Adjustments.
