Thermostat: Service and Repair
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
1. Drain engine coolant; refer to Engine Coolant Replacement.
2. Remove the upper radiator hose from the thermostat cover.
3. Remove the bolts, cover and thermostat.
CAUTION: Use care when scraping thermostat housing-to-gasket mating surfaces. Gouges in aluminum could form leak paths.
4. Discard the gasket and clean the sealing surfaces.
NOTE: Make sure the sealing surfaces are totally free of gasket material.
5. Install in reverse order of removal.
Tightening Torque: 20 - 30 Nm (15 - 20 ft. lbs.)
Steps After Procedure
1. Fill radiator with specified amount and type of engine coolant.
2. Start the engine and check for coolant leaks.
3. Bleed the cooling system; refer to Engine Coolant Replacement.
