Lifter / Lash Adjuster: Service and Repair
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
Note: For a valve train noise concern, inspect the valve-to-rocker arm clearance; rocker arms and push rods for wear.
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Drain the engine cooling system; refer to ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT.
3. Remove the lower intake manifold; refer to LOWER INTAKE MANIFOLD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.
4. Remove the tappet guide plate retainer.
5. Remove the valve tappet guide plates.
6. Remove the valve tappets.
7. Install in the reverse order of removal.
Tightening torque: 10 - 14 Nm (89 - 123 inch lbs.)
HLA Installation Note
1. Lubricate the valve tappets and the valve tappet bores prior to installation.
2. Install the valve tappets.
1) Use Engine Oil.
