Remove and discard the wheel hub O-ring and the axle shaft retainer ring (if present).
C.
Pull the front axle shaft carefully out and away from the knuckle assembly. Clean and inspect the main knuckle vacuum seal and the axle
shaft metal surfaces. Replace any parts which appear worn, damaged, or corroded.
D.
Apply grease to the new O-ring and install. NEVER reuse a front axle shaft retainer.
E.
Reinstall the hublock. (DO NOT reuse the hublock if it is broken or cracked.) Proceed to STEP 8.

Check both the passenger-side and driver-side wheel end vacuum sealing (as assembled) with a hand vacuum pump per the Workshop Manual
(page 03-11-2).
If a leak is found, repair per the PVH troubleshooting section in the Workshop Manual (page 03-01-41).
If a leak is not found, proceed to STEP 9.

DO NOT reuse the hublock if it is broken or cracked

ALWAYS replace and re-grease (using high temperature wheel bearing grease) the wheel hub O-ring seal when a hublock is removed then
reassembled. This is a sealing point for the hub vacuum system.

The front axle shaft retainers MUST be fully seated in their grooves and oriented with the steel band facing outward. NEVER reuse a front
axle shaft retainer.

If the front axle shaft is pulled out of the wheel end, clean and inspect the main knuckle vacuum seal and the shaft metal surfaces. If any
damage to either part is present, replace the part.
