Wiper Motor: Service and Repair
CAUTION:
- The internal permanent magnets used in the windshield wiper motor are made of a glass-like material. To avoid damaging the magnets, do not strike
the motor with a hammer or any other object.
NOTE:
- The windshield wiper motor is not a repairable item. If worn or damaged, the motor must be replaced.
1. Cycle the wiper blades until they are in the straight-up position.
2. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
3. Disconnect the wiper motor electrical connector.
4. Remove the right-hand linkage access cover.
5. Reach through the access cover opening and unsnap the wiper motor clip.
6. Disconnect the (A) right-hand wiper mounting arm and pivot shaft from the (B) left-hand wiper mounting arm and pivot shaft. Move both away
from the (C) wiper motor.
7. Remove the stud bolt and three bolts from motor.
8. Remove the wiper motor.
CAUTION:
- To avoid possible damage to the mounting arm and pivot shaft retainer clip, be sure the clip is fully seated before installing on the motor crank
pin.
NOTE:
