Wheel Speed Sensor: Service and Repair
Removal and Installation
Front
FRONT SPEED SENSOR (4X2) REMOVAL / INSTALLATION
1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Disconnect the speed sensor electrical connector and unclip the front speed sensor wire from the vehicle frame.
3. Remove the bolt and speed sensor.
4. Install in reverse order of removal.
Tightening torque
11 - 13 Nm (11 - 13 kgf-m, 9 - 10 ft. lbs.)
Rear Axle
REAR AXLE SPEED SENSOR REMOVAL / INSTALLATION
1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Disconnect the rear axle speed sensor connector (1).
3. Remove the bolt (2).
4. Remove the rear axle speed sensor (3).
Note Inspect the anti-lock brake sensor O-ring for damage; lightly lubricate O-ring with rear axle lubricant.
Caution Before removing the rear axle speed sensor, clean any dirt around the sensor to prevent the dirt from contaminating the rear axle fluid.
5. Install in reverse order of removal.
Tightening torque
34 - 40 Nm (3.5 - 4.1 kgf-m, 25 - 29 ft. lbs.)
