The windshield wipers may operate while the multi-function switch is in the OFF position. This may be caused by a resistance drift in the multi-function
switch or a partially plugged-in connector.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1.
Verify customer concern.
2.
Replace the multi-function switch with revised part per the Workshop Manual (section 09-18 MULTI-FUNCTION SWITCH
REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).
Note:
^
If non-wiper related symptoms are present, perform diagnostics per the appropriate Workshop Manual.
^
DO NOT attempt to repair the vehicle by replacing the CTM.
Caution:
^
Make sure that all connections are fully seated to the CTM, center instrument panel components, wiper motor and multi-function switch during
Installation. Check multi-function switch connection closely for loose connections, terminals, and terminal push outs. Do not attempt a continuity
check or probe the circuits of the wire harness.
