Air/Fuel Mixture: Adjustments

1.

Check engine condition (spark plugs, ignition timing, leaks in hoses, float level, etc.).

2.

Turn all electrical loads "OFF." 

3.

Warm up engine and run at idle.

NOTE: This adjustment must be done while cooling fan motor is not running.

Connect dwell meter (90 degrees, 4 cylinder) to air/fuel check connector (BR/Y).

5.

Check idle mixture (duty) at specified idle speed.

IDLE SPEED: 825 ± 25 rpm in neutral or "P."

IDLE MIXTURE:20° - 70°

NOTE: Idle mixture adjustment is normally unnecessary. If mixture is not as specified, check feedback system.

6.

If idle mixture requires adjustment, proceed as follows:

a) Remove carburetor and knock out spring pin. Reinstall carburetor.
