Carburetor Float: Description and Operation
Float, Needle Valve, And Sight Glass
The float and needle valve assembly regulates the level of fuel in the float chamber. When fuel fills the float chamber to the correct level, the float raises
the needle valve against its seat, shutting off the fuel inlet. Then as fuel is used and the level begins to drop, the float and needle valve fall, opening the
fuel inlet to refill the chamber. There is a small glass window with a line etched in it, on the side of the carburetor, that allows visual inspection of the
fuel level without disassembling the carburetor.
