Location of Intake Air Temperature Sensor on B Series Truck 2WD L4-2184cc - 1990 Model
Intake Air Temperature Sensor: Description and Operation
The Intake Air Thermosensor, located in the air cleaner assembly, detects intake air temperature. The ECU uses this input in its calculations for
functions such as air/fuel ratio control. For example, the ECU will fix the duty of the air/fuel mixture solenoid valve at air temperatures above 67°C (153
°F).
Sensor resistance and the voltage signal to the ECU vary with intake air temperature. The input signal at 20°C (68°F) is approximately 4.1V.
Normal sensor resistance measurements are as follows:
Air Temp. (°C / °F)
Resistance (K ohms)
-20 / -4
14.6 - 17.8
20 / 68
2.21 - 2.69
80 / 176
0.29 - 0.35
