DESCRIPTION
If a customer complains of a rattling noise heard from underneath the body between 1000 - 5000 rpm while in neutral, the cause may be a broken exhaust
hanger bolt.
A service part has been established and the following modifications have been made at production:
1.
Bolt strength and tightening torque increased (torque 2.1-2.8 m-kg [15-20 ft.lbs.]) as per Service Bulletin, Category 4, no. 041/88.
2.
Exhaust hanger clamp/band modification.
3.
Plate added under modified band.
To correct this problem, replace the front exhaust pipe with the modified one.
NOTE:
Inspect the exhaust manifold studs for breakage, replace if necessary.
