Emissions Maintenance Light: Service and Repair
Fig. 113 Malfunction Indicator (CHECK) Light Reset
On California vehicles, the MIL is used to indicate computer system malfunctions. On Federal vehicles, in addition to displaying computer system
malfunction codes, the MIL acts as an emission maintenance warning. The light comes on at 60,000 miles for EGR and at 80,000 miles for oxygen
sensor.
To reset the light after servicing indicated components, locate the Brown/White, Black, and Green wires under left side of dash (taped to wiring harness
above relay box). At 60,000 miles, unplug Black wire connector from Brown/White connector and plug it into the Green wire connector. At 80,000
miles, return Black wire connector to Brown/White wire connector.
