DESCRIPTION
In the event the instrument cluster is replaced, this service tip provides information on copying odometer data from the old odometer to a new one using
IDS/PDS updated to the latest software level. Data can be recorded to a new odometer unit, if the following conditions are met:
-
Data in the old unit can be retrieved by IDS/PDS
-
Odometer in the new instrument cluster is less than 63 mi (100 km)
-
New instrument cluster has no damage (ie: "---" is not displayed)
-
Instrument cluster voltage is over 9 volts.
NOTE:
^
A new or used instrument cluster with more that 63 mi (100 km) cannot be programmed with a different mileage.
^
There are two procedures in the bulletin, one for vehicles equipped without Advanced Keyless system and one for vehicles with Advanced
Keyless system.

Part 1
MODELS WITHOUT ADVANCED KEYLESS SYSTEM
NOTE:
^
The following procedures are written for MMDS-IDS only. MMDS-PDS will be similar.
^
PDS does not support Module Configuration Programming (MCP) on all models. It is recommended to use IDS when performing this
procedure.
^
If IDS/PDS cannot retrieve configuration data from the old odometer, a screen will automatically appear that requires As-built data.
However, configuration using the As-Built data cannot transfer old odometer data to a new odometer.
^
Before starting, make sure you have all customer ignition keys since they will need to be reprogrammed to start the vehicle. A minimum of
two keys are required to start vehicle.
1.
Connect IDS to the vehicle.
