Drivetrain - Rear Wheel Bearing Humming Noise

REAR WHEEL BEARING HUMMING NOISE

APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINs
2007 CX-7 2WD vehicles with VINs between JM3ER******101015 - 157823 (produced from Apr. 1, 2006 to Dec. 31, 2006)

2007 CX-9 2WD vehicles with VINs between JM3TB******100001 - 106940 (produced before Dec. 31, 2006)

DESCRIPTION

Some vehicles may experience a humming noise from the rear of the vehicle. This noise may be due to the improper shape of the ABS wheel sensor.

The shape of the ABS wheel sensor has been modified to eliminate the noise.

Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1.

Verify customer concern.

2.

Replace both rear wheel hub components and rear ABS wheel-speed sensor with modified parts according to Workshop Manual (section 03-12
WHEEL HUB COMPONENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION[2WD] and section 04-15 REAR ABS WHEEL-SPEED SENSOR
REMOVAL/INSTALLATION[2WD]).

NOTE:

BE SURE TO FIT THE REAR ABS WHEEL-SPEED SENSOR IN THE CENTER, DO NOT ALLOW THE SENSOR TO BE PRESS
FITTED OFF-CENTER.

3.

Verify repair.
