ANTI-THEFT ALARM ACTIVATES WHILE VEHICLE IS PARKED OR FAILS TO ARM
APPLICABLE MODELS/VINS

1996 Millenia with a VIN of JM1TA22**T1299999 and lower.
DESCRIPTION
An anti-theft alarm that sounds by itself while the vehicle is parked or fails to arm the system, may be caused by the hood switch or hood switch bracket.
Customers complaining of these concerns should have the vehicle inspected and repair according to this bulletin.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1.
Inspect the hood switch for proper alignment.
^
If the hood switch bracket is bent down, the switch-to-hood clearance may be too large, causing intermittent activation or a failure to arm.
^
If the bracket is bent, gently bend the bracket back to the proper position.
2.
If the vehicle is equipped with a front mask, the material thickness may also increase the hood-to-switch clearance, activating the alarm or not
allowing the system to arm.
