HIGH-MOUNTED BRAKE LAMP SHINES INTO PASSENGER COMPARTMENT

1997 Millenia with a VIN of JM1TA22**V1301930 and lower.

NOTE:

This service information illustrates the procedure for removing the new type high-mount brake lamp and high-mount brake lamp bulb. Service
Managers should place a copy of this bulletin in section T of the workshop manual.

DESCRIPTION

Light from the high-mount brake lamp may leak into the vehicle passenger compartment. Refer to Fig. 1. This problem is caused by the fit between the
high mount brake lamp and the rear package trim. Light escapes because the lip on the lamp body is bent upward. Sponge material has been added to
prevent the light from leaking into the passenger compartment. If you encounter a customer complaint, install a countermeasure part (protector)
according to the repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

Countermeasure Part Installation

1.

Remove the high-mount brake lamp according to the removal notes of high-mount brake lamp.

2.

Open the plastic cover.
