Front Crankshaft Seal: Service and Repair

FRONT OIL SEAL

Removal
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Drain the engine coolant and the engine oil.
3. Remove the oil pump. (Refer to Oil pump)  See: Engine Lubrication/Oil Pump
Note:  Position the hose clamp in the original location on the hose, and squeeze the clamp lightly with large pliers to ensure a good fit.
Removal note:  Remove the front oil seal with center punch.

Installation
1. Install in the reverse order of removal.

Installation note:  Install the front oil seal with a suitable pipe.

Oil seal outer diameter:  55.Omm (2.17 in).

Steps After Installation
1. Add engine oil to the specified levels.
2. Connect the negative battery cable.
3. Start the engine and do the following:

(a) Check for leakage of engine oil.
(b) Perform engine adjustments if necessary.
c) Recheck the oil levels.
