DESCRIPTION
Vehicles equipped with 14" Bridgestone or Yokohama tires may exhibit unusual tire wear (cupping). This wear may produce a shimmy or vibration
when braking over 40 mph.
Unusual wear is most evident on tires which have not been rotated according to the Maintenance Schedule in the owner's manual.
Bridgestone has modified the tire tread to prevent this type of wear. Bridgestone or Yokohama tires exhibiting unusual wear (cupping) should be
replaced with the modified Bridgestone tire.
NOTE:
Do not refer customers to Bridgestone and/or Yokohama dealers. Order the replacement tires through your servicing PDC.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
If the above condition occurs, replace all 4 tires with the modified Bridgestone tires. Wheel balancing is also recommended.
1.
Prior to replacing the tires, inspect all related systems (i.e. brakes, suspension, steering) for damage which may contribute to unusual tire wear..
2.
If damage is found in any of the systems, repair according to procedures outlined in the applicable workshop manual.
3.
Owners should be advised to rotate tires every 3,750 miles to prevent unusual wear.
