Catalytic Converter: Description and Operation

To reduce CO, HC, and NOx emissions, the three way catalytic converter is used on these vehicles. The catalytic converter oxidizes CO and HC and
reduces NOx by a chemical reaction. The active materials in the converter are platinum and rhodium and it has a volume of 2640 cc (161 ci) for
California and 2370 cc (144.6 ci) for Federal and Canadian markets.
