MPV DX V6-2.5L DOHC (2000)
Radiator Cooling Fan Motor: Testing and Inspection
Circuit Inspection
With A/C
1. Start the engine.
2. Turn the A/C switch off.
3. Verify that the A/C compressor magnetic clutch does not actuate.
-
If it actuates, go to symptom troubleshooting "No.24 A/C always on or A/C compressor runs continuously".
4. Turn the A/C switch and the fan switch on.
5. Verify that the A/C compressor magnetic clutch actuates.
-
If it does not actuate, go to symptom troubleshooting "No.23 A/C does not work sufficiently".
6. Stop the engine.
7. Connect the SSTs (NGS tester) to the DLC-2.
8. Turn ignition key to ON (Engine OFF).
9. Select the PID/DATA MONITOR AND RECORD function on the NGS display.
10. Select A/C SW, A/CP SW and ECT PIDs.
11. Start the engine and monitor all PIDs.
12. Inspect the cooling fan motor and the condenser fan motor operation under condition of the following.
-
If the cooling fan motor No.1 or No.2 operates under ECT below 100 °C (212 °F) and A/C switch off condition, inspect the following:
-
Short to GND between cooling fan relay No.1 or No.6 and PCM terminal 45
-
Short to GND between cooling fan relay No.2, No.3, No.5 or No.7 and PCM terminal 17
-
Short to GND between cooling fan relay No.4 and PCM terminal 12
-
Cooling fan relay is stuck close
-
Short to power circuit between cooling fan relay No.4 and cooling fan motor No.2
-
Short to power circuit between cooling fan relay No.1 or No.2 and cooling fan motor No.1
-
If the cooling fan motor No.1 does not operate at all, inspect the following:
-
Cooling fan motor No.1 malfunction
-
If the cooling fan motor No.1 operates at low speed, but does not operate at high speed, inspect the following:
-
Open battery power circuit for cooling fan relay No.2 or No.3
