BULLETIN NOTE
This bulletin supersedes 04-001/01. A note has been added to the REPAIR PROCEDURE and the previous WARRANTY INFORMATION has
been changed.
APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS
All 2000-01 MPV with VINs lower than JM3 LW28** 10 170417.
DESCRIPTION
While applying the brakes under normal stopping conditions, usually at low speeds, a metallic popping, clicking or squealing sound can be heard coming
from the rear brakes. This may be caused by uneven contact between the brake lining and the brake drum. Modified rear brake parts are available to
address this concern.
Customer having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
Note:
The following repair procedure MUST be performed on both the left and right side brake drum assemblies.
1.
Verify customer concern.
2.
Remove rear brake drum assembly according to Workshop Manual (section 04-11 REAR BRAKE DRUM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION). Refer
to illustration.
Caution:
To avoid possible damage to ABS speed sensor, hold spindle when removing backing plate. DO NOT allow spindle to hang from ABS sensor.
