Radiator Cap: Testing and Inspection

INSPECTION 

Radiator Cap Valve 
1. Remove the radiator cap.
2. Attach the radiator cap to a radiator cap tester by using the SST. Apply pressure gradually.
3. Verify that the pressure becomes stable within the specification.

Pressure:  

74 - 102 kPa {0.75 - 1.5 kgf/cm2, 10.7 - 14.9 psi} 

4. If the pressure is held for 10 seconds, the radiator cap is normal.

Negative Pressure Valve 
1. Pull the negative pressure valve to open it.
2. Inspect for damage on the contact surfaces and for cracked or deformed seal packing.

3. Replace the radiator cap as necessary.
