Variable Induction Control Solenoid: Testing and Inspection

On-vehicle inspection

1. Start the engine.

IMRC Actuator Operation

2. Inspect the IMRC actuator operation (including the cable and shutter valve operation) under the following condition.

-

If the actuator does not operate, perform the DTC Confirmation.

DTC confirmation 

1. Stop the engine.

2. Connect the SSTs (NGS tester) to the DLC-2.
3. Verify that DTC P1512, P1518 or P1520 is not displayed.

If DTC P1512, P1518 or P1520 is shown, carry out appropriate DTC troubleshooting.

If DTC P1512, P1518 or P1520 is not displayed, perform Non DTC inspection.

Non DTC inspection

1. Start the engine and run it at idle.
2. Select the SIMULATION TEST function on the NGS display.
3. Turn the IMRC actuator from OFF to ON using the IMRC PID and inspect if operation sound of the IMRC actuator is heard.

If the operation sound is heard, inspect the IMRC cable for looseness and damage.

If the operation sound is not heard, inspect harness between the following:
-

Main relay and IMRC actuator terminal 2

-

IMRC actuator terminal 3 and body ground

-

IMRC actuator terminal 1 and PCM terminal 42
-

If okay, replace IMRC actuator.
