Extension Housing: Service and Repair

EXTENSION HOUSING AND PARKING MECHANISM ON-VEHICLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION 

1. Clean the transmission exterior thoroughly by using a steam cleaner or cleaning solvent.
2. Drain the ATF.
3. Remove the propeller shaft.

4. Remove in the order indicated in the table.
5. Install in the reverse order of removal.
6. Install the propeller shaft.
7. Add ATF to the specified level.

Transmission Lower Mount Removal Note 
1. Support the transmission by using a jack.
2. Remove the transmission lower mount.

Extension Housing Removal Note 
1. Remove the extension housing.

CAUTION:

The extension housing and transmission case is made of aluminum, and is therefore easily dented and scratched by metal tools. When
removing old gasket, do not gouge or strike the sealing surface of the converter housing.

2. Remove any old gasket from the extension housing and transmission case.
