Install support yoke and spring.
18.
Install adjusting cover and locknut as follows:
a. Apply sealant to adjusting cover and temporarily torque to 95 inch lbs.
b. Move rack back and forth 3 times and loosen adjusting cover.
c. Retighten adjusting cover to 39-48 inch lbs. then loosen 0-40°.
d. Secure locknut.
e. Measure pinion starting torque using a suitable spring scale and lever tool No. 49 0180 510B or equivalent. Starting torque should be 8.7-12
inch lbs at the neutral position ±90° and 14.7 inch lbs. at other positions.
f.
If specification is not as specified repeat step c through e.
19.
Install tie rod with air bleed hole out on rack housing side.
20.
Install new washer and tie rod onto steering rack, aligning washer with groove and crimp washer.
