Fuel Injector: Component Tests and General Diagnostics
Fuel Leak Test
WARNING: Release fuel pressure. Fuel line spills and leaks are dangerous. Fuel can ignite and cause serious injuries or death and damage.
Fuel can also irritate skin and eyes. To prevent this, always complete the "Fuel Line Safety Procedures". See: Service Precautions/Technician
Safety Information
View: Fuel Injectors Removed With Fuel Distributor
1. Remove the injectors together with the fuel distributor as an assembly.
2. Secure the injectors to the fuel distributor with wire.
CAUTION: Secure the injectors firmly to the fuel distributor pipe to prevent any possibility of injector movement and subsequent fuel leaks.
WARNING: Be extremely careful when working with fuel. Always work away from sparks and open flames.

3. Connect the data link connector terminals F/P and GND with a jumper wire.
4. Turn the ignition switch ON.

5. Tilt the injectors approximately 60 degrees and verify that no fuel leaks from the injector nozzles.
6. If fuel leaks, replace the injector(s).
Fuel Injector Leakage Specification: More than one drop per two minutes, replace leaking injector(s).
7. Turn the ignition switch OFF and remove the jumper wire.
On-Vehicle Inspection
OPERATIONAL INSPECTION
1. Warm up the engine and run it at idle.
