Dashpot: Testing and Inspection

Open throttle valve fully. Push on dashpot rod and check that it slowly moves toward dashpot diaphragm.

Release rod and check that it quickly returns.
3.
If not as described, replace dashpot.
4.
Warm engine to operating temperature and run at idle.
5.
Connect a tachometer and raise engine speed to 4000 rpm.
6.
Slowly decrease engine speed and check that throttle lever contacts dashpot rod at 2500 ± 150 rpm.
7.
If not as specified, loosen locknut and turn dashpot to adjust. Recheck to verify correct adjustment.
