Throttle Cable/Linkage: Service and Repair
PEDAL
Accelerator Pedal And Cable
1.
Disconnect cable from pedal arm.
2.
Remove retaining clip and pedal assembly as shown in image.
3.
Install in reverse order. Ensure that pedal moves without binding or sticking.
CABLE
Accelerator Cable Replacement
1.
Remove cable from throttle lever.
2.
Loosen adjustment nuts and remove cable from bracket on intake manifold.
3.
Compress tabs at "C" and remove cable from pedal arm.
4.
Compress tabs at "D" and push cable through firewall toward engine compartment. Remove cable from vehicle.
5.
Install in reverse order.
6.
If cable deflection exceeds 0.039 - 0.118 in (1 - 3 mm), adjust as needed. Refer to Adjustments.
