Ignition Coil: Testing and Inspection
VOLTAGE SUPPLY CHECK
Ignition Coil Voltage Supply Check
1.
Disconnect ignition coil connector.
2.
With ignition switch "ON," check for approximately 12V at connector positive terminal.
3.
If there is no voltage, check main fuse, ignition switch. Repair the problem as required.
PRIMARY RESISTANCE CHECK
Coil Primary Resistance Check
Check primary resistance across coil terminals as indicated on image. If not within specification, replace coil.
0.78 - 0.94 ohms
SECONDARY RESISTANCE CHECK
Coil Secondary Resistance Check
Check secondary resistance as indicated on image. If not within specification, replace coil.
11.2 - 15.2K ohms
COIL CASE RESISTANCE CHECK
