Evaporator Core: Service and Repair

1.
Disconnect battery ground cable, then discharge refrigerant from system.
2.
Disconnect pressure switch electrical connector and remove switch from accumulator, Fig. 8.
3.
Disconnect refrigerant lines from accumulator and evaporator. Plug all open lines.
4.
Remove nine screws attaching evaporator case cover to evaporator assembly.
5.
Remove mounting nut from bottom of service cover mounting stud of evaporator case assembly.
6.
Working in passenger compartment, remove nut attaching evaporator case service cover to dash panel.
7.
Working in engine compartment, remove evaporator case service cover from evaporator case assembly.
8.
Remove evaporator core and accumulator assembly from vehicle.
9.
Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a.
Use new O-ring lubricated with refrigerant oil.
b.
Leak test, evacuate and charge system.
c.
Check system for proper operation.
