Instrument Cluster / Carrier: Service and Repair

1.

Disconnect battery ground cable.

2.

Proceed as follows:

a. Remove two screws attaching ashtray assembly receptacle to instrument cluster trim panel, then remove ashtray assembly receptacle.
b. Depress hazard warning switch on steering column and remove cluster trim panel.

3.

On models equipped with automatic transmission, remove two screws attaching the PRNDL indicator and position aside.

4.

On all models, remove two steering column shroud attaching screws and the shroud.

5.

Remove lower instrument panel trim.

6.

Remove eight instrument cluster trim cover attaching screws and the trim cover.

7.

Remove four instrument cluster attaching screws, then pull cluster away slightly from panel and disconnect speedometer cable and all electrical
connectors. If there is not sufficient clearance to disconnect speedometer cable from speedometer, it will be necessary to disconnect cable from
transmission and route cable through cowl to reach speedometer quick disconnect.

8.

Remove cluster from vehicle, Fig. 3.

9.

Reverse procedure to install.
