Fuel Pressure Regulator: Testing and Inspection

FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR INSPECTION

1. Complete the "BEFORE REPAIR PROCEDURE". (Refer to SERVICE PRECAUTIONS.)
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Remove the air intake hose.

4. Connect a fuel pressure gauge between the fuel filter (high-pressure side) and the fuel distributor. (Install clamps as shown.)
5. Install the air intake hose.
6. Connect the negative battery cable.
7. Start the engine and let it idle.
8. Carry out the "Intake Manifold Vacuum Inspection". (Refer to FUEL DELIVERY AND AIR INDUCTION, TESTING AND INSPECTION.)

9. Measure the fuel line pressure.

Fuel line pressure: 200-240 kPa (2.0 - 2.4 kgf/sq.cm, 29 - 34 psi) 

10. If not as specified, carry out the "Fuel Line Pressure Inspection" and "PRC Solenoid Valve Inspection" (Except California).

11. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the pressure regulator.
12. Measure the fuel line pressure.

Fuel line pressure: 280 - 310 kPa (2.0 - 3.2 kgf/sq.cm, 40 - 45 psi) 

13. If not as specified, replace the pressure regulator.
14. Complete the "AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE". (refer to SERVICE PRECAUTIONS.)
