Dashpot: Testing and Inspection

Dashpot

1.

Open the throttle valve manually all the way.

2.

Push the dashpot plunger into the dashpot, noting that the rod retracts slowly (resistance is felt as air is forced from diaphragm chamber).

3.

Release the dashpot rod and note that the dashpot extends quickly to its fully extended position.

If dashpot does not operate as described, replace it.
