Power Steering Control Unit - Warning Buzzer Sounds Off
Category 15
035/86
12/10/86
1987 RX-7
Subject
Power Steering Control Unit
DESCRIPTION
There is a possibility that a power steering warning buzzer will occur despite no failure of the power steering system. This can occur when the battery
voltage drops excessively when cranking the engine, causing the power steering control unit to judge the need for a fail-safe function.
The above fail-safe condition may occur in RX-7 vehicles within the VIN range listed below. For this reason, the power control unit must be replaced
with a new one at PDI or other service.

NOTE:
A black circle indicates that the control unit has already been replaced with a new one.
2.
For vehicles within the above VIN range, if no black circle is found on the control unit, remove the two nuts securing the control unit and
install a new one.
3.
Using a black felt tip pen, make a black circle approximately 0.6 inch diameter on the underside of the control unit.
