V-BELT TENSION ADJUSTMIENT
DESCRIPTION
One or more of the following symptoms may occur if the engine V-belt tension is too tight.
1.
The alternator V-belt may wear out prematurely.
2.
The engine may overheat.
3.
The engine may stall and will not restart.
Belt tension had been changed from 12-14 mm (0.47-0.55 in) to 13-15 mm (0.50-0.59 in) at production since April 10, 1991.

ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE
If any one of the above symptoms is observed, adjust the V-belt as follows.

New belt tension (after belt exchange, etc.) is 13-15 mm (0.50-0.59 in).

Tension for existing belt tension is 14-17 mm (0.55-0.67 in).
NOTE:
The tension for a "new belt" should be measured immediately after the belt is installed, prior to starting engine. If the belt is put under load (i.e. if the
engine has run with the belt installed), the "existing belt" specification should be used.
