Idle Speed/Throttle Actuator - Electronic: Testing and Inspection
SYSTEM INSPECTION
1.
Warm up the engine and run it at idle.
2.
Ground the test connector (green:1-pin).
3.
Connect a tachometer to the engine.
Solenoid Valve (BAC) Connector
4.
Disconnect the solenoid valve connector.
5.
Verify that the engine speed decreases.
SOLENOID VALVE (BAC)
1.
Disconnect the solenoid valve connector.
Measuring BAC Valve Resistance
2.
Measure the solenoid resistance with an ohmmeter. The resistance should be 10.7-12.3 Ohms.
3.
Apply 12 volts and a ground to the terminals of the solenoid valve.
4.
Verify that the valve clicks when the voltage is applied.
5.
Replace the valve, if necessary.
SOLENOID VALVE (AWS)
1.
Disconnect the air bypass solenoid valve connector.
Measuring AWS Valve Resistance
2.
Measure the solenoid resistance with an ohmmeter. The resistance should be 9.3-11.3 Ohms.
3.
Apply 12 volts and a ground to the terminals of the solenoid valve.
4.
Verify that the valve clicks when the voltage is applied.
