Parking Brake Pedal: Customer Interest
Brakes - Park Brake Pedal Won't Fully Release/Lamp ON

PARKING BRAKE PEDAL WILL NOT FULLY RETURN WHEN RELEASED - INDICATOR LIGHT STAYS ON

APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS
2009 Tribute and Tribute Hybrid vehicles built Oct. 1, 2008 through Jan. 26, 2009

DESCRIPTION

Some vehicles may exhibit a parking brake indicator on the dash due to the parking brake pedal not returning to the fully released position.

Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify parking brake indicator is illuminated in dash.

2. Pull pedal up to fully released position by hand.

- If indicator stays on, this procedure does not apply. Refer to Workshop Manual diagnostic procedures.

- If indicator goes out, replace parking brake control assembly according to Workshop Manual (section 04-12 PARKING BRAKE CONTROL

REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).

3. Verify repair.
