Canister Purge Control Valve: Testing and Inspection

NOTE: Test should be conducted with engine at normal operating temperature.

1.

Detach the vacuum line at the right angled port (A) of the purge valve and connect a vacuum gauge.

2.

Start the engine and slowly increase engine speed to 3000 RPM and observe the vacuum gauge.

No vacuum should be present at idle.

Vacuum should commence as engine speed increases.  If not test the thermovalve and vacuum lines for leaks or restrictions.
