To do so, the compressor must be turned in the compression plate by 9O~. The milled red color marks must coincide (arrows, Figures 2 and 3).

When using the spring compressor with the springs installed in the vehicle, the red marks are easily visible from below.

Note:

To assure proper use for safety reasons, spring compressors which do not have the marks must be identified by grinding a groove into the respective
components and highlighting them with red paint (Figures 2 and 3).

Use of 2-Lug Spring Compressor on 4MATIC Vehicles

To use the 2-lug spring compressor on 4MATIC vehicles, special compression plates are required. These plates are available separately under part no.
124 589 18 63 00.

WARNING!

Use extreme caution when working with spring compressors. The proper use may result in personal injury. Therefore, inspect all components for damage
before using than. Never use an impact wrench for tensioning or slackening the pressor. This could damage the threads, allowing the compressor to fly
apart and possibly result in personal injury.
