15. Drive out and remove left front axle shaft (60)

When sliding out the front axle shaft, push the wishbone down using a suitable tool.
Do not damage the plastic guard ring, rubber boot and rpm sensor rotor.
To avoid damaging the wheel bearings, the vehicle must not be moved on its wheels with the front axle shaft removed.

Checking

16. Check joints and rubber boots for leaks and damage.

If the inner joint is defective: replace front axle shaft complete.
If the outer joint is defective, or if the rubber boots are leaking or damaged: Replace rubber boots on front axle shaft

17. Install in the reverse order

Front axle torsion bar

Bolt, retaining bracket to wishbone .......................................................................................................................................................................... 20 Nm

Front axle shock absorber

Self locking nut, shock absorber to wishbone

yellow ............................................................................................................................................................................................................... 185 Nm
silver/blue ......................................................................................................................................................................................................... 170 Nm

Wheel location, hub

Self locking nut, supporting joint to steering knuckle ............................................................................................................................................ 105 Nm
Self locking nut, lower wishbone to front axle carrier ........................................................................................................................................... 110 Nm

Front axle shaft

Collared nut, from axle shaft to front axle shaft flange .......................................................................................................................................... 280 Nm
Collared bolt, from axle shaft to front axle shaft flange ......................................................................................................................................... 270 Nm

Tie rod

Self locking nut, tie rode to steering knuckle

yellow ................................................................................................................................................................................................................. 60 Nm
silver/blue ........................................................................................................................................................................................................... 70 Nm
