Keyless Entry Module: Description and Operation
IR DAS 2a Control Module (Up to 6/96)
The DAS infrared control module performs the following functions:

Infrared remote central locking

Receipt and evaluation of infrared remote control signal
After recognition of valid IR signal

Convenience feature (CF)

Confirmation on interior rearview mirror

Confirmation via turn signals (models 170/202/210 via additional relay)

Drive authorization system stage 2a (DAS2a)

Actuation of transponder coil on ignition/starter switch

Reading and evaluating transponder signal

Release of engine control module via CAN with valid transponder code
The DAS infrared control module (N54/1) evaluates the transponder data transferred and, if valid, releases the engine control via the CAN data bus.
