Use the insertion tool (7) 117 5S9 00 43 00 to press in radial seal flush with end cover. if wear groove exists on the crankshaft, press in radial seal 
2 mm deeper.
The dust lip must not be resting on the crankshaft otherwise leaks will occur as a result of the pumping action.

INSTALLATION NOTES FOR CRANKSHAFT RADIAL SHAFT SEALS

Use only insertion sleeve 117 589 00 43 00 and version) with hole for the locating pin.

The end cover guides the engine oil from the main oil gallery (arrow) to the two oil galleries for the oil supply of the cylinder head and is sealed with a
gasket. The bottom edge of the end cover is sensitive to distortion (oil leak). For this reason, use insertion tool 117 58900 43 00 to replace radial seal
only when the end cover is fitted to the crankcase. in the case of a leak at the rear, support engine, run and determine the leakage point.

EXAMINING REAR OF ENGINE FOR SIGNS OF EXTERNAL OIL LEAKS

Remove driven plates together with ring gear.

Clean rear of engine.
