LINCOLN-MERCURY 1983-84 CAPRI, COUGAR The subject vehicles may exhibit a buzzing noise in the gearshift lever, (usually in 5th gear), with
the vehicle in motion. Revised shift lever insulators may be installed to resolve this concern.

Remove the (2) gray colored insulators from the shift lever and install (2) purple colored insulators (E4ZZ-7341-A) - Figure 10.

Reinstall gearshift lever per 1984 Car Shop Manual. (Refer to Step 1).
