About the Cougar XR7
The Cougar (1967–2002) was Mercury's best-selling model, with nearly three million built. From 1977 the Cougar XR7 was the counterpart of the Ford Thunderbird, a pairing that lasted 20 years, and the seventh generation introduced the MN12 platform alongside the Thunderbird.
