ISSUE
Some 2010 Fusion and Milan vehicles equipped with a 2.5L engine and built on or before 10/22/2009 may exhibit a customer concern of a underbody
shield dragging underneath the vehicle. The underbody oil drain access cover may be loose, damaged or missing.
ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Raise the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 100-02.
2. Inspect the underbody cover for an oil drain access door that is out of position, loose, damaged or missing.
a. If the access door is missing or damaged, replace the underbody cover. Refer to WSM, Section 303-01A. Return the vehicle to the customer.
b. If the access door is loose or out of position, proceed to Step 3.
3. Remove the underbody cover. Refer to WSM Section 303-OlA.
4. Mark two (2) points on the oil drain access door. One (1) point should be above the letter "0" and one (1) point should be above the letter "N" of the
word OIL DRAIN formed into the cover. The marks should be close to the edge of the oil drain access cover by a 1/4" (6.3 mm). (Figure 1)
NOTE
MAKE SURE BOTH TABS ARE SECURED UNDER THE UNDERBODY SHIELD AND THAT THE ORIGINAL FASTENER IS IN PLACE.
5. Drill two (2) 3/16" (4.8 mm) holes through the access door and underbody cover.
