Sable V6-183 3.0L DOHC VIN S MFI (1997)
Trunk / Liftgate Hinge: Removal and Replacement
Removal
1.
Open liftgate assembly.
2.
Remove liftgate header rail inside moulding along top of liftgate opening.
3.
Remove liftgate as described.
4
Remove liftgate hinge-to-liftgate retaining screws, and remove liftgate hinge from liftgate.
Installation
1.
Follow removal procedure in reverse order.
2.
Seal the hinge to body with Silicone Rubber D6AZ-19562-AA or equivalent meeting Ford specification M4G2 13-A.
3.
lighten the hinge-to-roof frame through-bolt and nut to 8-10 N.m (71-88 lb-in).
4.
Tighten the remaining screw and nut to 25-35 N.m (19-25 lb-ft).
5.
Tighten the hinge-to-liftgate screws to 8-10 N.m (71-88 lb-in).
Removal
1.
Remove luggage compartment door as described.
2.
Remove RH luggage compartment door/tailgate hinge torsion bar and LH luggage compartment door/tailgate hinge torsion bar.
